Manhole Cover

Firefighter in Queens was injured when he tripped over a depressed manhole cover in the street in front of the firehouse while directing the chauffer who was backing a truck into the firehouse. Firefighter injured his shoulder which required surgery. The defendant’s failure to maintain the manhole constituted a violation within the meaning of the Firefighter Law, which contributed to the Firefighter being injured.
